players banning players of the server

There were some players in the CS:S server that were banning other players that joined the server. This went on for one whole week until i look at the server chatter through hlsw. I saw that there were alot of banned, banned, banned... from the players. When i looked at the banned list there were about 15 - 20 banned players. This went on for a about a week but what bothers me is that while i was advertising the server this was going on.

Wait... CS server has voteban but not TF2 server (and they're fucking it up for the rest of us?) Also, isn't the server always being advertised (on Steam) or am I misunderstanding?

Apologies to CS regulars as I only play on the TF2 server but read the forums far too often.

Voteban only works on CS:S but i don't know why it is broken for tf2

A few years back i got warned for advertising servers in steam.

So were you able to get the steamID's of those doing the banning? Could you make it possible to have the regulars initiate a voteban on the server?
