Default warning -- validation -- not steam account administration

I just received a chat request from someone named VALIDATION this person is not from steam support. Steam does not ask for account information through steam friends.

Never tell your password to anyone.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Validation This is an automated message generated by Steam account administration to help us verify the validity of your Steam account ownership. Please respond with your account name, password, and
e-mail address which is registered to this account in the following format: [Account]/[Password]/[E-mail]. Failure to comply with this request will result in the immediate
suspension of your account until further notice.
Signed, The Steam Support Team
To contact us, email automation@support.steampowered.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: He has joined the nG community group to try and steal steam accounts. I would advice everyone not to answer his steam friends chat request or invite and to block him from contacting you.

it seems my sisters boyfriend just had his steam account stolen by the same type of scam. i have had an "Automated Steam Message" try to steal my account and also one in the form of an email from "valvesupport@gmail.com" asking if i wanted to be in the beta testing for HL2:ep2.

like nightlinks said, never give your password ever. actual staff members wont ever need your password given to them!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to remember that next time I'm on and I get one of those.
