Default Fallout 3

I heard of games recycling their sounds, graphics, weapons and whatnot... but I think fallout 3 is a perfect example of a company recycling an entire game and painting it with different colors.

***SPOILER ALERT*** (I'm not black baring all of this, it'll look stupid)

The beginning to fallout 3 is pretty awesome, your mother gives birth to you, you pick a name, you pick out how you will look in the future. Then when your a year old you pick your attributes, like in oblivion.

Then you go through that whole tutorial/entrance/story thing. Like with oblivion and protecting the king. My alarm bells immediately went off when it asked me to change my appearance, never mind any of this stuff.

I thought "Hey, maybe they got it right this time..." I was wrong. Game play was 100% recycled with the exception of a few extra addons. I kind of called it quits when it takes 6 revolver rounds(TO THE HEAD). They did the exact same friggen thing like they did with oblivion, they made combat bullshit.

I am going to go back to Oblivion and prove this. Back in Oblivion you could carry a hammer the size of a small child. Normally when someone hits you in the head with a massive hammer, you will either die or become unconscious. But they need to take that 1 extra mile in unrealistic combat and just blow it out of the water. I remember attacking something with my massive hammer and taking forever to kill it.

This can be fixed with difficulty. However, if you turn it down too low, it's too easy and becomes a joke, if you leave it where it's at by default, it remains the same.

Now... I am aware games aren't supposed to be too realistic. I mean, in tf2 you can take a rocket to the head and live. But that's entirely different because the game play needs to be longer lasting for multiplayer.

But this is single player. Everything is the same as oblivion! Seriously, they just made another oblivion but with guns and a different story. I loved the idea of a game like this, large amount of land, guns instead of swords, a more modern/future type story, but they just fucked it all up!
Anyone else got any thoughts?

I liked it too except for it's combat system, and since it the game IS mainly combat, well... I want a good experience out of it. I don't like the idea of having to slice a skeleton 100 times before it dies. Or hit it with a hammer for that matter, I should be able to hit it's torso across the room.

I was always a hand-to-hand or sneak person... so I never really noticed it, in fact, I got my hand-to-hand so high it is a bit too unrealistic becuase it takes like 2 hits to kill anything.

Bullets should do the same damage regardless. That's just ridiculous.

Think about it, I shouldn't need a higher gun skill for bullets to do more damage that's just going too far with the whole skill system.

After giving the game a second chance (I'm quick to judge, yeah I don't like that either) it was pretty damn fun. Although unlike oblivion when the game ends, it really ends. Once you complete the main mission its done.

Depending on what you did in the game the ending will differ. The main mission is fairly short (for me at least, i stumbled upon something that made the quest go much quicker, no not cheats, just another quest place I didn't know existed)

I only explored like.. 50% of the towns and stuff too! I finished the game at level 15 (level 20 cap). The missions themselves were pretty damn awesome. I aint gonig to spoil it but some of them were pretty creative (and pretty damn funny too).

Man, I was saying to myself "if it forces me to end imma be pissed". So naturally, when it forced me to end and went to end credits I proceeded to rage. During that time i threw my keyboard into our television and broke it (the keyboard was ok though thank god). My parents woke up and came downstairs and they start screaming and me and I just tell them "Guys, the Fallout 3 ending was totally balls, it forced me to end!". They completely understood and went back to bed.

Yeah yeah I know I can just load a save game but... I just don't wanna do that. It's a good thing it finished though kinda, cause I was spending a little too much time on a single game. In fact, it's 4:10 AM as i finish typing this post, I've been playing since 12 AM this morning.
