The ad also said children under 16 would be admitted free, and both adults and children were offered free .22-caliber pistol and rifle shooting.
Guns and ammo for all!?

They also said it's important to teach them about gun safety. I think the people that run these things need another lesson in that. The kid was EIGHT YEARS OLD. I mean... did it not even go through their heads that small child could not handle the recoil of a fully automatic weapon?

I'm not disputing the fact it was stupid. Shit when I was shooting I always had my father helping me and he always showed me proper gun safety. I never fired a full auto till this summer. It was a stupid thing that happened. I'm just stating the fact that if taught properly you should be fine.

Being a range safety officer myself, I would have never let an 8 year old fire a fully automatic weapon with no more than round in the magazine. You get 1 round at time, Pvt Pyle, until you can prove to me that you can handle the firearm safely, and manage its recoil! The RSO and the child's parent at least should be charged. From what I read, the club that hosted this shindig should also be held liable.
