Default Kicking The Habit

Well I've been smoking for a year and a half now and a friend managed to convince me to try and stop. Anyone have any tips because it sucks right now. :\

Well, you're going to need quite a few friends to help keep you in check. Also, nicotine gum, maybe?

I don't smoke, so I don't really know. I just know it can be diffiucult without support.

Why stop now? It will keep you thin and the older kids will think you are cool. Plus since you are still young you can reap the make-a-foundation rewards if you do get cancer. Think about it man. Thin,Cool and you could meet Hannah Montana. Where is the down side to this?

On a serious note though. I hear caffeine increases cravings so if you are a energy drink junky like myself perhaps cutting back on those would help. If all else fails just watch this video everytime you feel the need to smoke.

There is a pill called Chantix that works really well.

Stay away from chantix

"In November 2007, the FDA announced it had received post-marketing reports that patients using Chantix for smoking cessation had experienced several serious symptoms, including suicidal ideation and occasional suicidal behavior, erratic behavior, and drowsiness. On February 1, 2008 the FDA issued an Alert to further clarify its findings, noting that "it appears increasingly likely that there is an association between Chantix and serious neuropsychiatric symptoms.""

My mom took it a few months back and said she would rather die of lung cancer than feel as sick as that stuff made her. Also on one of my past manly manual labor jobs they forbid you from taking chantix because someone who was taking it blacked out on the job and seriously injured himself.

i wish i could quit. i've been smoking for about 11 yrs now. i tried chantex and it work alittle for me, i only took it for a few days though. but my insurance doesnt cover it so i cant take that. i've heard people can have side effects from it. my friend took it and he had really crazy dreams about his kids dying so his wife made him stop.

a nurse told me when your trying to quit drink alot of water it will clean out your system to get rid of it.

good luck man

A friend of mine tried quitting smoking once. He stopped buying cigarettes, but would then bum them off his friends. It didn't work, lol

I dunno, I can't give much for support except the fact that if you don't you'll probably die. Almost everyone in my family has died of lung cancer that was brought on be smoking. I made a solem vow to myself when my grandmother died that I wasn't going to even try them. She died of lung cancer around 15-20 years after she stopped, so if any time to stop, it would be now.
