| | Fix To Autobalance Read the 5 page based on teamstacking and such. I have been playing a different server < no names > that has a mod or something of that sort which gets rid of spectator mode all togther. So you choose your team at the start with whoever you want to be and when someone leaves the server someone is randomly selected to other team...they cant switch back to other team by waiting in spectator instead they can only join the team again if there is room. Getting rid of stack waiting forcing you to play intil a spot is open on the other side. This is a big 24/7 fort 32 players so noone makes it anywhere really but still just a thought, not that it doesnt make them just wait in spawn for someone else to join the server.. but a idea. Eventually they should just make it where you dont choose your side everything is random except class...yes I know if you want to play with friends and such but I think I can give that up for a even vs even fight everygame

My Mood: | | Hey Mire,
It still souns like auto team balance is still on. I can disable spectator mode in the server.cfg file but the problem is that we need spectator enable to catch suspected hackers.
I think this is what you are talking about the auto join team restriction. This can be enabled and spectator mode can still be enable also because it remembers on which team the player was on even if they reconnect. Quote:
************************************************** ***************************
// Module : Auto Join restriction
//
// Desc : This module can stop a player from selecting a specific team and
// force them to join using auto-assign or join spectator. As an
// extension to this it can also remember the team that the player is
// assigned to and force them to rejoin that team if they re-connect on
// that map. The auto-join module can be overriden by ma_swapteam,
// auto balancing and any extern plugins such as etb or ptb.
// ************************************************** ***************************
// Option to enabled/disable the functionality. By having it enabled the player
// must use auto-assign when joining a team
// 1 = on/0 = off

// When set to 1 the plugin will store the team the player was on and force them
// to that team if they try to re-connect or change team within the game.

Anyway I played on a server last night with some shovel people and whatever mod was running had a /buddy feature that would allow you to select a buddy to be autobalanced with you if you were balanced for whatever reason. This would be a great feature although it didn't seem to work when I got bumped to the other team... maybe I wasn't using it correctly? Has anyone else seen this mod in action and working?

My Mood: | | How would that work Cloud?
What if two people tried to choose the same buddy, or if the buddy was an unwilling participant? (or do both people have to agree to it for it to work)

My Mood: | | I honestly have no idea how it is intended to work, I just found that it was an interesting idea that personally didn't pan out the way I thought it would. It would make sense if two people chose each other that it would be more likely to work (probably the way it was intended,) but I don't know. Just trying to add to the discussion and put more ideas out there. I still haven't bothered to look up exactly what mod they were running so I can't really speak on behalf of it working.
I like playing with just about all of the regulars on the server, but I do NOT like playing against Cloudsgirl because I have to sit next to her. Even if we had a working 1 buddy system in place, at least my ass would be covered ;P. As of now, I just make sure she's happy first, and then friends / regulars / server in general.

I'll be back soon, miss you guys! |

My Mood: | | I think the only great solution is to self regulate. I've been trying to just spam the "random team" door and let the chips fall where they may.
I admit I used to stack. It's just sucks getting rolled on a map. Especially if it's going to be 60 minutes of 2Fort, or a multi-tier map like Gold Rush.
I've been a bit of an ass about it sometimes. I'm usually just playing for fun, but I don't know why it bothers me so much when I'm losing badly. I think it's because I used to be really competitive in sports. Sometimes it carries over.
No algorithm used will be perfect. I'd like to see if being autobalanced to the losing team, they choose the dead person with the most points over the last x minutes to switch. If switching to the winning team, autobalance the person with the least number of points over the last x minutes. I'd probably exempt the top two people from each team from being autobalanced.
I'm sure the programming isn't set up to allow this level of configuration. Also, engineers should always be exempted if there are 2 or less on a team. I hate being autobalanced if I'm the one with the good sentry set up. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
