Default Tips For Noobs?

So what are some of your best tips for noobs?

Here's a couple tips when you're playing against someone of the same class.

One of my biggest tips is "Shoot first". If you don't shoot first, you will probably lose. Unless it gives your team some strategic advantage (i.e. you're in the courtyard and a scout is running up the straight stairs with enemy intel), you should probably retreat.

Another one is "Numbers always win". If I'm up against a Heavy and we both have full health, a engineer on the other side of the map shooting his SG will greatly tip the scale in my favor.

Strategy:
TF2 can be a thinking man's game if your aim sucks. Don't get caught up in aim contests. Learn to be decisive, if you see a flank open up, take it. I get a lot of kills off of guys who try to flank but aren't decisive enough, so when they get into position they don't know I've already flanked THEM.

I like to cut 2fort4 into 3 groups. Offense, Defense, Center. Generally, your best player is going to be offense, with a medic behind him. Your Defense is going to be an engineer or two. Then in the Center are the guys who either pull back if you are under attack, or push forward if a hole has opened up. If you re playing Center (this includes you, snipers) and someone picks up the intel. You should pull back and go for the stop if you are on YOUR side of the bridge. (especially snipers who sit on the deck).

Communicate! There is a little arrow at the bottom of your screen that says which way the intel is going. use it! Tell people which way the intel is going if the enemy has it. If you have enemy intel, tell people which way you are taking it. (Generally its a good idea to take it the same way you got in, unless someone says otherwise). If its dropped, let people know where it is. The living can NOT hear the dead talk or type!

Engineers: Don't give your life for your sentry gun. If an uber comes in and wrecks it, let them (unless its just a heavy or soldier where you can repair them faster than they can damage you). Then when they go downstairs just start rebuilding. They come out with the intel and run right back into the rebuilt sentry gun.

Spawn camping is a strategy, no QQ. And change class if you're being spawn camped so you can start pushing back.

Medic tips:

Who to heal first:
  1. Either people who are on fire, or taking heavy damage.
  2. Other medics who are hurt (importance goes up the more ubercharge percentage the have).
  3. soldiers, demos, heavies, and pyros... all the main offensive classes.
  4. Engineers that are under attack while you are sitting around the base.
  5. Scouts, when you're heal target is fully healed/not taking any damage (most people don't know how far that 150% boost goes on a scout)
  6. Snipers as you walk past them or if you notice they are hurt, healing a sniper to win a sniper battle may aid your team alot... just don't heal them for all the assists you can get.
  7. Retreating spies (becareful healing spies though because you can easily blow their cover).

Some other tips:
  • If your heal target is being incredibly dumb and is about to get both of you killed... run. If you can see it coming the best thing to do is to save that little bit of ubercharge that you have and use it on another teammate... one of the main skills as a medic is retreating.
  • Don't go out in a blaze of glory, although it may be fun, going all out battle medic against a heavy, a pyro, a soldier, and a sentry just isn't a good idea, it's best to run.
  • Spy check before healing someone, or heal them then spy check, just make sure the person your healing doesn't turn around and stab you and all of your buddies with 150% health.
  • Use the mic, it is the best thing for a medic and his patient to be able to talk and tell each other what thier doing.
  • Medics are the second fastest class, use this to your advantage.
  • Don't be afraid to switch targets halfway through an uber, it may change the battle. Just make sure that the first person you're healing doesn't die.
  • Crits do nothing to buildings, please keep this in mind when you are using the kritzkrieg.

To follow up on Ryan's center strategy. It's probably one of my favorite positions to play when there are good snipers on the enemy team. For example, if sparkimus and Cloud are on the other team, I'm going to dedicate myself to keeping them dead. It sucks walking out of your building and immediately being sniped by a good sniper again and again and again. I make it my job to either make enemy snipers rage quit or switch classes.

Oh come on everyone knows that's bull crap. We all know that will make the fire last longer. :P

Seriously though as sniper move. Don't stand still like a asshat move around. Moving target is harder to hit.
Same goes for scout crossing the top of the bridge at 2fort. Strafe.

Of course we all knew that. But seriously that's all I got

Oh yeah this reminds me of a video How to play spy @ kotaku.com
