Default Which forum software do you like best?

nG is running an older version of vBulletin 3.7.4 The newest version that came out is 4.0+ The company has moved versions of vBulletin 3.7 and earlier to legacy status which means that they are not going to be updating anymore. They will however be releasing security patches whenever there's a vulnerability.

When I first got vBulletin it was a personal preference of mine because of the way it looked to the way support handles updates and security patches. Now I am trying to decide if I should upgrade the forums to the latest version of vBulletin or get a new forum software.

If I don't upgrade I would like to change forum software to maybe IPB ( Invision Power Board ) or UBB.Threads ( Ultimate Bulletin Board ).

I like UBB.Threads because it reminds me of the mIRC forums. IPB is a message board that alot of gaming communities use.

This is not an official poll. I just want to get opinion on what members think and I might just decide to go with a message board software that is not listed here in this poll.

The bottom option seemed too busy to me, and I didn't see too much difference between the other two aside from the read/unread indicators, so I voted to keep the one I'm more familiar with (of course I didn't look too hard so I might have missed something)

They all have their extra features and stuff. In UBB.Threads it comes with a image gallery FREE! while the others you have to pay extra to have it.

IDK man, I think you did brilliant with the one we got now. Although the question is could you darken the new ones up to make it like this one? And if that were so I would prolly say "Go with UBB.Threads". But this one here is absolutely great.

The theme is not a problem because I will be getting a custom website with the matching forum after I decide which forum software to get for the community.

UBB.Threads has some really cool features that I like alot. One of them is the portal I can add different modules to the left and right side of the from page of the site.

I have to agree with Kal the ubb is way busy, unless there are options to change the design to make it flow together a little easier. But it also seems that the ubb has more options for growth and expansion.

UBB has WAY too much stuff going on. It looks like an Excel sheet exploded or something.

Although I do like that IPB one. IMO: Stick with VBulletin or go with the IPB.

Ditto here. I was trying to decide on the correct way to describe UBB and Jack nailed it.
