| I'm looking to buy a 37" lcd tv/monitor to use as my main monitor. I don't care so much about the TV part as I only have a PS2 and no cable hookup. I've tried using an HDMI cable from my comp to my parent's TV (Sharp 42" 1080i LCD) and the text is ugly as shit. It plays games beautifully (though I wish I had a better video card...) but I can barely read the desktop at all, regardless of the resolution (natural resolution or otherwise.) I also installed ClearType but it still looks like ass. Right now my desk has my giant tower on it, a really old 19" monitor, and my giant 27" TV (hooked up by S-video.) I want a new monitor namely... but I would like a larger TV for watching all of the movies and such that I've acquired. I want to clean off my desk! The heat that these behemoths put out is unbearable sometimes... I can easily have the warmest room in the house during winter. My friend currently has a 37" and he can read his monitor from the couch across the room. I'll need to talk to him more about what I should do, but I was hoping someone might have an idea of either what's wrong, or a brand suggestion to go with when purchasing a new tv/monitor. People either seem to like Westinghouse, or Samsung. Also I don't know if 720p will look good enough (that's what my friend's is though...) or if I should bother with 1080p (adds like $3-400 to the cost >.<) Does anyone else have a ginormous monitor that they use? |

| I hear good things about the westinghouse flat panel tv's. I see alot of them on sale online for really good prices. You should defenitely go with the 1080P as it is better than the 720P. My monitor here is a 720P and it looks ok but my neighbor has a 1080P that does full hdit looks beautiful.

| If you're going to go and buy something, go check out newegg.com. They haven't failed me yet whenever I need some kind of hardware for my computer.

| I've bought a lot of stuff off of Newegg/Tiger Direct/ZipZoomFly but I'm not sure about having to send shit out to get repaired (costs add up quick). Also a lot of the stuff I've read said Westinghouse is great unless something breaks, their support is abysmal. So I'm not so sure about that. Is your neighbor using the TV as a monitor, or just a plain TV? Also what size? I've kind of put this on the backburner (yet again) as I've been spending too much $ on other shiz lately. I'll still get it eventually though... If I can't resolve the text issue, I'll probably just buy a 24" widescreen monitor and stick my TV somewhere else since I barely use it anyway. |

| Sorry i should have mention that my neighbor has a UltraSharp 2407WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor. I was pointing out that the 1080P looks really good on that monitor.
