Default How do i backup my steam games?

If you would like to backup your steam games like counter strike source, team fortress 2 and others. Right click or double click the steam icon that's in the system tray or on the desktop. Click on the games tab and right click on the game that you would like to backup. On the menu go down until you see "Backup game files..." and click it. A window will open called "Steam - Backup wizard" select the game(s) that you would like to backup by placing a checkmark in the small box next to the game. There you are going to see as you select a game the required disk space the game is going to take up in the hard drive, cd-r or dvd-r. Make sure you have enough disk space in case you would like to backup all of your game files to your hard drive.

Click next to continue...

On the next screen you are going to select where you would like to save the backup game files in your hard drive. The default setting should be good because the files will be saved in the steam backup folder. Again, you are going to see the required disk space the game files are going to take up and how much disk space is available in the hard drive.

Click next to continue...

On the next screen you are going to make up a name for the backup file(s) or you can use the already selected name for the game you would like to backup. In the file size box select where you would like to save the game files to a cdrom or a dvdrom. The minimum size for a blank CD-R is 640 MB and for a DVD-R is 4.7 GB. If you would like to save counter strike source to a cdrom you are going to need 5 blank cdrom's to save the files. You can also select a custom file size if you know the exact size of the media that you going to use. Now you are ready to begin the backup process.

Click next to begin...

When the backup process is finished you can begin recording the game files using nero, roxio or any other cd, dvd burning software.

To see the game files click on "Open backup folder" or click finish when you are done.

The steam backup folder is located in C:\Program Files\Steam\Backups

NOTE: You can only backup games that you already have installed on your computer.
