Default [CS:Source] How to populate your game server

The following tips have worked for me in the past in getting my counter-strike source servers populated. If you just rented your game server but don't know how to get it populated the following tips can help you.

1) Server Name - To me this is very important because this is how you call players into your server.

2) Map - Another very important thing for me is leaving the same map on for 2 - 4 days before putting the server on map rotation. I like leaving de_dust2 because it is a map that most CS 1.6 and CS:S gamers love the most. If on the second day you start recognizing player names start a map vote and see if they want to play a different map.

3) NO! Admin - When i startup a new server i don't like to show myself as admin unless i have to. I want the players to have the freedom to do anything they want in the server. Don't be too aggressive with your players when using admin cause it will empty your server.

4) Server Settings - I like turning off a few features on the game server like Friendly Fire, AWP, AUTO SNIPERS.
I also like to make the map rounds a bit shorter around 3 minutes. This will make the game go faster because players don't like to wait long to start playing again.

5) Bots - Don't fill the server with bots. Go to How to enable - add bots to counter strike source server and fix it so that only 2 bots joins the game. When a human player joins the server then one of the bots exit the server. When another human player join the server the other bot leaves the server as well. Set the bots to normal and for the bots to finish their objective.

6) Advertising - Check out How to advertise your game server.

The last thing is play, play, play in your game server until people start coming in.
